Reports To: Maintenance Director/Superintendent

Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing grounds of the Terre Haute Parks Department
Position Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
- Directs crew in assigning activities such as mowing, trimming hedges, removing weeds, landscaping, watering, snow removal, raking and disposing of leaves
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards
- Monitors and maintains adequate cleaning supply inventory, as well as garage, tooling and equipment inventory
- Develops and maintains fleet operations plan to include all vehicles and equipment
- Studies production schedules and estimate man hour needed to complete tasks
- Interprets policies related to personnel and safety issues and enforces them
- Suggests changes in working conditions or use of equipment to increase efficiency
- Provides input or suggestions to train and motivate employees to achieve work goals
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with outside contractors, City Engineers, other City Departments and vendors
- Understands Union and City policies/rules for employment
- Coordinates volunteers
- Oversees community service workers
- Assists with Park Hosted events (Festival, 4th of July, Old Fashion Days, etc..)
- Helps Recreation Department maintain Deming swimming pool
- Writes and accepts requests for sealed bids
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Considerable ability to work well with others
- Excellent organization skills
- Considerable ability to solve problems
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Detailed oriented
- Valid driver’s license
- Able to work some weekends and be on-call 24-hours a day
- Computer knowledge
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Training: An Associate's Degree or equivalent from a 2-year college/technical school is preferred and/or two years related experience
Experience: 1 year + maintenance experience including supervisory experience is preferred. Ability to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment including backhoe, skid steer, dump truck, mowers and chainsaws as well as CDL preferred.

- Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s).
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
