Department: Parks and Recreation
Reports to: Director of Recreation
Pay Rate:
- $12.50 per hour
- Up to 28 hours per week
Position Responsibilities:
- Enforce and follow rules of the pool area at all times and practice preventative care
- Learn the emergency action plan and help lead all emergency procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe pool environment
- Attend all training and in-service meetings
- Maintain all characteristics of a professional lifeguard while on duty
- Be courteous, tactful, and punctual
- Complete and submit all reports and inspections
- All lifeguards must work a minimum of 15 pool parties/extra events during the season
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Ability to effectively communicate in a positive manner with the public
- Ability to control large groups of people calmly and effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year previous of Lifeguard experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform all Lifeguarding and CPR skills proficiently
- Ability to swim 300 yards continuously
- Ability to work outside in extreme heat and cold
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
