Department: Parks and Recreation
Reports to: Assistant Director of Recreation
Pay Rate:
- $10.00 per hour
- Up to 28 hours per week
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks in a summer camp and youth program setting including recreation activities, arts and crafts, preparing food, sports, games, and swimming
- Oversee daily operations of youth programs and special events at the park
- Lead various activities for groups of children
- Demonstrates use of recreational equipment and teach participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity
- Clearly explain and enforce park and program rules
- Report complaints to leadership and work to help resolve issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to learn and enforce safety and operating rules
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Must be able to work outside
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in outdoor recreation, education and/or youth programs
- Valid CPR certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a wide variety of environment, including extreme heat and cold
- Ability to stand for long period of time
- Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds
